Matheson Associates is essentially a sole practitioner consultancy and is proud to be so. We do engage specialist associates from our network when required but irrespective of whether we're providing independent management, research or learning consultancy services, all Matheson Associates assignments are designed and led by Iain Matheson - a senior consultant with extensive social sector experience in management, management consultancy, research and evaluation and learning and development. From time to time we also collaborate with other highly regarded New Zealand and overseas organisations.
For over 15 years, Iain has been successfully delivering management consultancy, research and evaluation and learning and development services to community service, education, health and welfare Government and NGO clients with management or programme responsibilities. Overall, he has over 30 years experience of working in and with, the government sectors in New Zealand and a number of countries overseas. Prior to establishing Matheson Associates in 2004, Iain spent 15 years in public sector management positions which spanned roles in operations, service development, quality assurance, project management, policy analysis and strategic planning - latterly in a high profile senior management role with the New Zealand Department of Child, Youth and Family Services.
Iain possesses a rare mix of experience and skills. With a background in statutory child welfare management he is a doctoral graduand (EdD), a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), a registered social worker (Scottish Social Services Council), a qualified evaluator (Postgraduate Diploma in Social Sector Evaluation Research), and an experienced educator (Massey University). He is also on the Scottish Journal of Residential Child Care's editorial board, and the Council of the NZ Institute of Management Consultants.
His professional affiliations include Action for Children and Youth Aotearoa, American Evaluation Association, Aotearoa/New Zealand Evaluation Association, Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth and the Institute of Management Consultants New Zealand.
